FInding skincare products that work and won’t break the bank is an ongoing topic of discussion among all the women I know. It’s hard to choose from everything that is out there. On top of that, skincare itself if always the conversation where I find women beating themselves up the most.
The reality is that I don’t know a single woman out there that says, “My skin is amazing. Take a look. Get out the florescent lighting, magnification mirror and see for yourself.” I’d almost rather run naked through a crowd than do that. I am always on the lookout for great skincare products that won’t break the bank and work effectively to treat the areas I am most concerned about, e.g. my whole face.
I will try just about anything, but as soon as I cease to see any changes, they are in the trash. If they are not in the trash, they are pushed to the back of this very dark place, “The waiting place”…p.s. unlike the Dr. Seus book, those products are not going anywhere.
Enter, Advanced Clinincals. They sent me a full range of products from their line and I did not pay for a single one of them. Nope. Nada. Does this cause me to pause for a second and question my journalistic integrity? Yes, but thankfully, I am not a journalist and I am able to report back that I do love the line. I owe it to anyone that decides to make a purchase to be 100% honest, even if the review is not the best. The combination of Advanced Clinicals product quality, results and price (all under $30) give them a leg up in skincare. Most of the better serums out there, range from $90 to $300+. I personally do not want to spend that kind of money on products.
How You Treat Your Skin Will Affect Its Health
What you eat, good or bad, 100% affects the health of your skin, hair and nails. Eating foods like tomatoes, eggs, avocado, vegetables that are high in Vitamin C and have good fats in them will improve your skin. You will see more of glow. You hair will be shinier and your nails will grow faster. While I force vegetables, green juices and a ton of water down to counteract the damage I do on a daily basis, even with healthy changes, my skin still needs a helping hand. Especially, as we age it is important to help hydrate skin from the outside, stimulate cell turnover, increase collagen production and provide some kind of barrier against damage.

Product Picks: 5 Skincare Products That Work
What I got: Everything shown above. Power Quad Travel Pack , which included the Vitamin C Masque, Charcoal Detoxifying Mask, Hyaluronic Mask, and a Collagen Mask. And the Wrinkle Eraser Vitamin C Day Cream,($18) Dark Spot Correcting Cream, ($18), Hyaluronic Serum,, ($15), Retionol Serum,($15), Vitamin C Anti Aging Serum ($15), 5-in-1 Eye Multi Correction Eye Cream ($18), Instant Wrinkle Tightening Cream ($18). My bathroom looks like I raided a store.
I like all of the products, but I have my favorites. When it comes to everyday care, the ability to slow down the aging process, and to improve radiance when temperatures are plummeting and my skin is at its worst is very important. The Hyaluronic Serum, Retinol Serum and Vitamin C Serums are my favorites.
Hyaluronic acid retains over 1,000 times its weight in water, its naturally occurring in your body and helps to provide moisture even during the toughest months. This is my new go-to. I used it under my makeup, throughout the day, and typically added, and will continue to add, a little bit to my moisturizer.
At night, I used the Vitamin C & Retinol together. Vitamin C helps to stimulate collagen, it’s restorative, will smooth fine lines and prevent wrinkles and helps give you that extra glow. Retinol, or Vitamin A, has long been used by dermatologists to combat aging. Retinol will help your skin naturally exfoliate to reveal younger looking skin. It can effectively treat some forms of acne and it does diminish fine lines and decrease pore size. If you were to pick any products to add to your regimen, these would be my top three picks. They work, and they are also not nearly as expensive as others on the market ($15).
I also loved the Hyaluronic and Collagen Masks. They cannot be beat. Especially, as I was traveling and not getting enough sleep, these two masks provided that instant boost of moisture that my skin was lacking. If I woke up and my skin looked tired, I would use the Hyaluronic Mask. Right before a night out, the Collagen mask helped provide that dewy look I was lacking from running myself ragged.
Overall, I can see a difference in my skin. I have more of a glow and my skin looks a bit more youthful. If you are in your 20s and reading this, you have the glow, but if you want to keep it, I would recommend starting with the Retinol and Vitamin C Serums together. If you are in your 30s, use those plus, the Hyaluronic Serum and above masks.
Travel Set
I think this is an amazing set of masks to have on hand. And also a great gift for the hard-to-buy-for person. It has two of my favorite masks in it, but then it also has the detoxifying charcoal mask. Charcoal has been used forever and is making a comeback. It does wonders for clogged pores. The Vitamin C mask is definitely great for a quick refresh and glow.
Dark Spots and Long-Term Aging Care
For dark spots, like cystic acne scars, hyper-pigmentation, and so forth, depending on how bad it is, I would recommend something a bit stronger than the Dark Spot cream, like a hydroquinone which ranges all the way- 2% to 4%. I prefer 4%. Or if it is severe, you might look into doing a viPeel or laser treatments. In terms of the Instant Wrinkle Lift product, I think that’s a tough one and I believe that only Botox is going to give you that wrinkle-relief. But, if you are younger, certainly the Instant Lift product will help to minimize light wrinkles for a night, but it’s not going to keep them away forever. I felt like the 5-in-I eye cream was good, but I think eye creams are tough as well. For me, I’d rather use Vaseline, like my grandmother. I think this one was great for a total face moisturizer, but not the eye area specifically.
I also liked the Vitamin C Day Cream. That did not make my Top 5 list, but that was good as a light moisturizing product.
Overall Rating: 4+
Overall, Advanced Clinicals gets a great review. The price is amazing for the quality. It’s effective and I will buy all five of my favorites again.
