I’m working on a round-up of all of my favorite looks for summer weddings and events, but I could not wait to share this dress with you. This is the kind of dress you find an excuse to wear, and this is coming from a girl that does not often wear long dresses. I am making an exception for this one, and a few others this season because there are so many great styles out there.
This off-the-shoulder dress is a stunner. It channels 70’s style, but with a slight update. I could definitely see a young Faye Dunaway wearing this while sipping martinis around a pool in Palm Springs. It’s a deep coral, with a hint more red, and the silhouette and color combination are the perfect pair. It also comes in blush if you want something a bit more subtle, but the coral is perfect for summer with or without a tan.
Parker NY is one of my favorite designers because of their attention to detail, and playful, feminine style, and this piece is no exception. It has a built in corset to keep it in place, and truly off-your-shoulders (you don’t feel like it’s going to be around your neck in one second). Because it’s on the lower side of off-the-shoulder, it has a sassy feel. The lightweight, ruffled layers at the top, along with the flattering fit of the body, will make this a keeper for years to come. I would size up if you have more going on at the top, and you’ll likely want to get it hemmed unless you are 5’10+. I kept it long because I could not wait to wear it, but will shorten it so it’s appropriate for multiple occasions (and I don’t trip and fall, which does tend to happen anyway…).
This is a perfect dress for a summer wedding. It will work for black-tie or black tie optional. This can go a bit more causal because it’s a flowy style. You could dress it down and wear it to a less formal afternoon wedding, a more casual evening dinner party, or beach-side gathering.
Whether the occasion is more formal or casual, you do not need a lot in the way of accessories. I paired it with turquoise and gold statement earrings (collaboration between Stella & Dot and my favorite home interior brand, Serena & Lily), a simple delicate necklace, cocktail ring and vintage gold bangle. If I was wearing this for a more casual affair, I might add a longer beaded necklace and delicate statement earrings. For a wedding, I would add strappy sandals, in nude, gold or navy, and for a casual beach-side gathering, gold flats (like these Tory Burch Miller sandals or these Giuseppe Zanotti Nuvorock sandals would be perfect.
This dress is a higher price-point so I included similar options for the coral and blush below.
