My favorite look in the world consists of simple, classic pieces that are versatile enough to work for multiple situations with minimal effort. I see a lot of clothing out there today that has so much going on, and requires a lot of thought to put together. Sometimes less is more, and you just want to throw on something easy and not overthink it; especially, if you are rushing from work to play, or work to kids, or kids to (more kids) that rare girls’ night or date night.
This look is effortless, chic and appropriate in almost every situation (with a few slight tweaks). I found these coated denim jeans at Sak’s Off Fifth, and not only is the price incredible ($49, say what?), the fit is absolutely perfect. They hug where they should hug; think lululemon fit, but in the shape of your favorite “going out” pants, and the coated denim sheen adds dimension and style to the outfit. I found the scalloped cami at the J.Crew Factory store ($27). It’s a great year-round staple and the scallop detail adds a little twist to the traditional white cami; it gives it an element of sweetness and interest. And because it’s a cami, it still has a little sass without being overt.
As a stand-alone, this is my all-season date night or girls’ night look. If you throw on a blazer and pair it with peep-toe pumps, this works for most offices (tho I would probably not wear this to a government job, but almost everywhere else). Add a moto jacket and you’re ready for fall, or put on an oversized cardigan and flats, and you can wear this for Saturday shopping or to brunch with in-laws.
I paired this with my favorite go-to, nude strappy sandals. (p.s. these are available in multiple colors). I love a shoe with a thin ankle-strap; it elongates the leg and adds a graceful elegance, and with three straps, these shoes are absolutely perfect. I added a silver, blue, white, and black statement necklace. For summer, I typically don’t do a lot of statement necklaces, but I like the white in this one; it lightens it up so it does not look so heavy. I added simple hoops and my favorite cuff. The cuff is one of the best things I own. I don’t wear a ton of silver, but I will wear it just to have an excuse to don this cuff. I love it because it makes a statement, but it still has simple, clean lines (and it weighs nothing).
